Jennifer Thomson is the Assistant Director of Audiology at Columbus Speech & Hearing. She provides clinical care to patients of all ages and also works on program development and expansion. She also completes newborn hearing screenings at the OhioHealth family of hospitals. Prior to moving back to Columbus, she was a clinical audiologist for The University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. In addition to a clinical doctorate, Jennifer also holds a Master's of Science in Business Administration. Jennifer is passionate about mental health advocacy and has seen the impact horses can have on our overall well being, which led her to volunteering with PBJ. In addition, Jennifer enjoys traveling, being with family and friends, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills!
Joy Medlock

Joy Medlock is a thirty year educator. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education/Vocal Performance from The Ohio State University and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Xavier University, along with licenses in both school counseling and school administration. In 2016 Joy was named the Ohio School Counselor of the Year for Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, and although she loved her time spent in education, she will tell anyone who listens that her current position as Coordinator of Educational Supports for Franklin County Children’s Services is the best job ever, as she supports and advocates educationally for children in care! As a member of the PBJ Board , Joy is lucky to have found a wonderful, like minded group who share her commitment to equality and availability of quality mental health for all and includes animals. She helps lead the Healing with Horsepower Planning Committee. Her spare time is spent with her amazing family, including three dogs, three horses, a donkey named Stanley and an assortment of ducks and chickens, all living their best lives!

Kelly has more than 25 years of sales, marketing, and fundraising experience and is passionate about the human-animal connection as it relates to mental health and independence. She is a past development director for PBJ Connections and has worked in development leadership for Canine Companions for Independence and several other local and national non-profits. In addition, Kelly has worked as a corporate philanthropist, a sales professional, and an event planner; and has served on several community boards and committees. As a graduate of Leadership Columbus, Kelly says she is excited to help lead PBJ Connections and their clients into a bright, prosperous, and joyous future.
Colin Pender

Colin is a current 3L student at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He will serve as a 2023 Board Fellow with PBJ Connections and is excited for the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of the Board. Having received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Psychology from Ohio State, Colin is committed to bettering Columbus and its communities. During his undergraduate career, for example, Colin was an advocate for increasing Ohio State's mental health resources and bettering the Buckeye community as a part of Ohio State's Mental Health Task Force. Now in law school, Colin joins PBJ Connections to pair his passion for legal work with his passion for giving back to the community. Following his graduation in May, Colin will join Jones Day as a 2024 Associate in its Cleveland office.
Cory Medley

Cory has had a long career with Nationwide Insurance holding many different hats. He grew up in Bexley, OH and studied at The Ohio State University. He enjoys volunteering, traveling in Europe and participating in the Big Brother program. He is passionate about working on and collecting cars which made him a perfect fit to join the Healing with Horsepower Car Show Planning Committee. Cory was drawn to PBJ Connection's mission as a long time advocate for children's mental health.
Denise Pietsch

Denise has a BS and MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland. She was born in Columbus, but grew up in
Maryland and met her husband of 44 years in Annapolis. After over 25 years of Navy life, Denise and Paul settled back in Maryland
with their two children, Jennifer and Paul Jr. There, she found her passion for teaching and taught most grades, from Kindergarten
through 8th grade, at a local private school. Denise now specializes in teaching children and adults with Dyslexia. She loves
seeing her students learn and grow to love reading. PBJ Connections came into her life when her daughter, Jennifer, graduated from
OSU and began her career as a therapist and equine specialist with this amazing organization. PBJ Connections helps some of the
same communities that Denise has been associated with most of her life: children and Veterans.
Kat Casto

Kat is a district manager for Sheetz and is involved with Special Olympics, Sheetz for the Kidz, Feeding America and a graduate of EDGE women's leadership program. Working closely with the public over the last 10 years, it sparked an interest in mental health. She wanted to do more to help people and learn how to be a better advocate for mental health so she joined PBJ Connections, where her interest in mental health meets her passion of horses. When she is not working she enjoys the outdoors and can usually be found at the barn or at eventing competitions with her horse.

Olivia is an only child from a single-family household, a wife of almost 19 years, a mother of 3 black men and 1 daughter, and a YaYa to a 5-year-old grandson. As a former military dependent, Olivia has spent her life traveling the world to places such as Japan, Hawaii, Spain and Africa.
Olivia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management and has been with JP Morgan Chase for 8+ years where is has held many positions and her hard work and dedication was recognized and was promoted to Vice President.
As the Vice President for Talent Development, Olivia works to implement, execute, and measure talent solutions aimed at the delivery of talent management solutions for critical talent segments across CCB and design and deliver targeted learning and development resources focused on where CCB managers need more guidance. In addition, she is responsible for setting the program for the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council and Champion Forum to provide meaningful impactful conversations, creating focus on driving DEI outcomes, actions to share best practices, align on strategic decisions and with the firm wide, and line of business (LOBs) wide efforts. Through her collaboration, she ensures the business tactics are aligned with their progress against Strategic Initiatives, Market and Community, Business Practices and Representation to meet their strategic goals.
Prior to joining JP Morgan Chase, Olivia worked for Coca Cola Refreshments as a Business Finance Manager where she was a key member of the management team and was responsible for maintaining the day-to-day financial/administrative operations for three Distribution Centers to support distribution of over 11 million cases of product annually. She managed the finance administrative staff of 14 at three Distribution Centers across Ohio, monitored and controlled a $22M labor and operating budget, paying attention to expenses and potential savings opportunities.
Outside of work, Olivia enjoys volunteering her time in the community educating others on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and working to ensure we remain innovative, forward thinking and continuing to commit to improving racial equity to underrepresented races, women and the LGBTQ community. When she is not working or volunteering her time, spending time with her family and is an avid traveler with her husband or with a women’s travel group that she has grown to love. Olivia has traveled to Dubai, Greece, Hawaii, and various cities throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. Her 2023 travel plans include visiting Central America and in 2024 visiting South America. Olivia is also an avid gym enthusiast and spends a few days a week training. Olivia is a former bodybuilding athlete where she competed in the NPC figure division. Olivia was selected as an athlete to compete at the Columbus Arnold Classic. She has also competed in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New Jersey.
Pat Brown

Pat earned a B.S. and an MBA from the University of Dayton He has served as QSCC’s VP, Distribution & Logistics for Wendy’s QSCC since August 2021. In this role, he leads the team responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy for receiving inbound supplies at the distribution centers and outbound distribution to Wendy’s restaurants in North America.
Throughout his supply chain management career, Pat has stayed focused on his passion for distribution and logistics. After 16 years at YUM brands in Louisville, Pat joined QSCC in 2012 holding various roles before being promoted to his current role as VP.
During his tenure at QSCC, Pat has established a reputation for his calm demeanor, industry expertise, resourcefulness, and perseverance. He is a pragmatic leader who regularly sets aside time for developing and coaching others. In 2021, Pat was inducted into QSCC’s Hall of Fame.
In his spare time, Pat and his husband, Tim, enjoy raising and showing their Brittany’s and Chinese Cresteds, and camping at dog shows.
Sarah Wakefield

Sarah has worked at OSU for 15 years, with her latest tenure serving in Human Resources. She's been an avid equestrian since before she could walk and currently events with her homegrown mare, Hadassah. The greatest gift Sarah has experienced is undertaking her own mental health journey - she is passionate about mental health as evidenced by her co-hosting a podcast! In her downtime she loves reading, spending time with her friends, starting (and maybe finishing) projects around the house. At home she is supervised by Frank the cat, and trusted by Oliver the dog.
