Parent Resources
- PBJ Connections recently received a copy of the book My Body Belongs to Me from its author, Jill Starishevsky. My Body Belongs to Me is a great resource to open discussion with children about molestation. This book uses child-friendly language to discuss inappropriate touching, empowering children to feel in charge of their own bodies, and giving children the tools to talk to safe adults. Child abuse is a sensitive subject that can be difficult for adults to broach with youngsters. This book makes it easy for parents to give children the resources and language they need to be safe. Starishevsky also provides great discussion points and child abuse resources in the appendix. To order your copy of this book, visit www.mybodybelongstome.com
- This site gives an overview and great articles about different circumstances that make a teen "at risk". From this site you can learn who is at risk and what steps can be taken to get help for your at risk child. Visit www.at-risk.org
Equine Care Resources
- The Unwanted Horse Coalition is working to reduce the number of unwanted horses and to improve their welfare through education and the efforts of organizations committed to the health, safety, and responsible care and disposition of these horses. Please visit their web site to learn how you can help.
