Third Annual Retreat and Fund Raiser

PATASKALA, OH (May 30, 2009):
The 2009 Women's Retreat held Saturday May 30th hosted over 50 women and raised over $2000 to help provide services to children who could not otherwise afford it.
There was a full day of fun for everyone, see our schedule of events . Our guests were spoiled with relaxing spa-like experiences such as facials, yoga, manicures and chair massages. Some of the other events included Chocolate Tasting, Beading Class, demonstrations by Canine Companions for Independence, and demonstrations by the Taoist Tai Chi Society.
Everyone attending took home boxes of Organic Zootons candy donated by Zootons to help create a healthier planet, a free month of service at nannies4hire.com - a $42.00 value and a free pass to USA-Skating.
Food was available through out the day and a delicious dinner was provided. Door prizes and a silent auction added to the fun. Some of the items in our silent auction included:

- Donated by Moms - a basket of handmade gifts for the kitchen.

- Donated by Lyn Green, a $35.00 value wine gift basket featuring wines from the Winery at Otter Creek in Johnstown.
- Also donated by Lyn Green, a $25.00 Cheese Sampler that will pair great with the wine basket.
- Donated by Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, 2 CoCo Key Water Park Splash Passes, a $120.00 value.
- The Potomac Riverboat Company donates 2 Washington by Water Monuments Cruise Tickets, a $52.00 value.
- Also donated by The Potomac Riverboat Company are 2 Mount Vernon by Water, George Washington Tour Tickets, a $76.00 value.
- Holly Jedlicka has donated a riding lesson on your horse, a $50.00 value.
- Columbus Museum of Art has donated a Family Admission and Parking Pass (good for up to four adults), a $32.00 value.
- Lois Szudy donated a gift basket for the reading enthusiast.
- Amy Flowers and Shrew'd Arts donated a $35.00 gift certificate good for one of her art classes.
- Jane and Andy Phillips have donated a Lucky Horseshoe Tote from Ballard Designs. Value at $24.00.
- "America's Vanishing Wild Horses" autographed by the photographer, Carol Walker.

Afternoon snacks and a delicious dinner were provided by Paula Elfering, one of our gracious and very hard working volunteers. Paula also did a cooking demo of her famous Tuscan Hummus. Amy Park provided desserts, and Flo Milton made dozens of cookies for enjoying throughout the day. Slate Run Vineyard donated the wine for our late afternoon wine tasting, conducted by Smokey Lynn Bare.

PBJ Connections is a local 501(c)3 organization that provides equine-assisted psychotherapy to area at-risk youth and their families. Equine-assisted psychotherapy has a long history of success at helping youths who are at risk of falling through society's safety nets. PBJ Connections Inc. was founded as a 501(c) 3 charity in October of 2006 and has been serving area families since that time.
